Our Aim
It is the aim of DAMAGE CONTROL SDN
BHD ( DC ) to provide the most comprehensive and cost effective
loss mitigation services to industry in South East Asia.
About Us
DC
was established in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in early 1990’s with staff
who had been intensively trained in equipment recovery methodology and
techniques. In the early years, work experience was built up within
Malaysia itself but over the intervening years DC has worked
off-shore in Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Brunei and Singapore.
Equipment recovery projects have been
very diverse in nature covering from high end technology equipment such as
analytical laboratory equipment, a CNC coordinate measuring machine, and
computer hard disc assembly components to an 80 feet long rubber curing
microwave oven and a meat processing line.
One DC project resulted in
over 3 million RM of laboratory equipment being recovered from a certain
write-off situation. This equipment was contaminated with products from
the combustion of at least 3,000 different types of chemical reagents and
compounds which had produced highly corrosive residues on the laboratory
equipment surfaces.
A photographic laboratory and a colour
printing factory have also formed part of DC’s
extensive range of recovery projects involving high technology and high
cost equipment.
DC
has the advantage of being a highly mobile, adaptive team of technical
expertise that has evolved a culture of a ‘can-do’ approach to any
recovery project problem. Well equipped and prepared to travel throughout
South East Asia, this team is well versed in loss mitigation techniques.
What We Can Do For You
DC
has a well trained and experienced team of technicians that can carry out
all aspects of loss mitigation work from preservation and decontamination,
to restoration of protective surface and coatings and full recovery of
damaged plant’s functions.
DC
can provide instant advice by telephone or fax as to the immediate steps
to be taken to minimise damage.
Another aspect of
DC’s
services is that we can provide on site examination and reporting on the
condition of equipment damaged by fire, flooding, chemical spill, impact
etc. We can also provide, by arrangement, estimates of repair, recovery
costs and opinions on service provider estimates for recovery work.
If requested DC
can carry out preservation work, at minimal expense to the insurer, which
will ensure that the rate of deterioration of plant is appreciably
diminished, until DC is commissioned to carry out recovery
work. If this preservation work is carried out immediately after the
trauma incident, the costs of the eventual recovery will be kept to an
absolute minimum.
DC
has a dehumidification facility at its Taman Shamelin premises but also
has the facility to bring dehumidification plant to the incident site and
either provide controlled environments for individual pieces of plant or
create dehumidification areas for many smaller items of equipment.
DC
also has available to it, the services of consultants qualified in the
fields of chemical, electrical, mechanical and electronic engineering,
metallurgy, process technology and materials science by way of its
association with Forensic Services (M) Sdn Bhd.
When Should You Call In
Damage Control?
Ideally, DC
should be called to the incident site within 48 hours of the occurence. When
there is the likelihood of the onset of rapid corrosion this is particularly
applicable.
In any incident where
there is a possibility of loss mitigation, DC should be called
to the site to verify and quantify recovery of plant and equipment.
DC
can give verification verbally, by brief details provided in a letter or if
commissioned to do so, in a full report documented with photographs, of the
present condition of plant after a trauma incident and the recovery options
open to the enquirer.
